My Approach

Before the workshop

Before any workshop I generally:

  • Meet with you (in-person or virtually) to define the workshop goals. Every team is unique, and I want to understand yours. So I work closely with you in the lead up to any workshop or program to jointly make determinations as to the areas that need to be focused on the most for your team to improve.  I’ll build the structure, content, timing and delivery – to achieve the specific team development aims you’ve set out.
  • Set up the workshop location. All of my workshops can be delivered at a time and place to suit you.  I will ensure that everything’s in place to run smoothly on the day — setting up the room and making sure all the necessary tools and materials are on hand.

“When the stakes are high, you need an external facilitator — someone to come in from the outside to guide, remain impartial, and get things moving in the right direction.”

During the workshop

Because time together for workplace teams is extremely valuable, I tailor all of my workshops to get each team its own unique results as efficiently as possible. I will do all the heavy lifting. I’ll outline the agenda, explain the workshop activities and give instructions, manage the time, and generally ensure that the group moves towards their goal.

As part of my role, I will also:

  • Encourage participation from everyone. This is one of the biggest benefits of working with me. I won’t allow for quieter voices to be drowned out by more dominant attendees; I’ll expertly encourage participation from everyone, making sure all thoughts, ideas, and perspectives are heard.
  • Manage conflict. I come armed with loads of expert strategies for dealing with workshop skeptics and managing conflict.
  • Bring it all together. With so many different ideas, thoughts, and opinions flying around, it can be extremely difficult to bring it all together to reach agreement and move forward. I will synthesise all key points to really get to the heart of what people are saying and how they want to proceed.

All you need to do is ensure your team show up – and I will take care of the rest.

After the workshop

After the workshop or meeting, I will summarise the key takeaways — usually in presentation form — and help you define the most logical next steps.

I will help you figure out if a follow-up workshop is needed, or advise you to move straight to agreed actions.

Most importantly, I’ll help you to keep the momentum going after the workshop, ensuring you and your team can achieve your goals.
